Klein Constantia Sauvignon Blanc 2016
The ward of Constantia is located on the eastern slopes of the Table Mountain range facing False Bay. Though vines were planted by the Dutch East India Company in what is now downtown Capetown as early as 1650 (in order to supply a drink high in citric acid to passing ships to prevent scurvy among their crews), the first quality wine vines in South Africa were planted in Constantia shortly thereafter. Klein Constantia’s history here goes back to 1685.
- 100% Sauvignon Blanc
- Individual blocks harvested and vinified separately, then blended to express the unique Klein Constantia terroir
- Soils: Table Mountain sandstone on decomposed granite
- Tank fermented, followed by 7 months on the lees before blending
Tasting Notes: Bright and inviting with a flinty nose. The palate is well integrated with flavors of gooseberry and tropical fruit. Nicely balanced acidity with a long, rich finish, showcasing typical Klein Constantia minerality.
