Chalone Estate Chardonnay 2014
Gorgeous aromas of peach, pear, golden apple and citrus laced with hints of spice. Deliciously fruit-expressive flavors reveal the complex minerality, bright acidity and opulent texture.
The oldest producing vineyard in Monterey County, Chalone Vineyard Estate rests on the Gavilan Mountain Range on the north slope of Chalone Peak. At 1,800, the quiet splendor of the vineyards overlooks spectacular views of the wide-open Salinas Valley, made famous by local author John Steinbeck. The vineyard’s name comes from the peak, which derives its name for the indigenous Costanoan Native American tribe, the Chalone, or Chollen.
Michael left Chalone Vineyard in December 1997 to pursue continued development of Michaud Vineyard. When asked about coming back to be Consulting Winemaker at Chalone Michael said, “I am thrilled to assist the Foley Family Wineries and Winemaker Gianni Abate to return Chalone Vineyard to the successful winegrowing practices that made Chalone Vineyard wines internationally respected.”
