Chateau du Donjon Rose 2016

$ 12.75

Situated in Minervois, one of the oldest wine-producing areas in the Languedoc, Château du Donjon has been in the Panis family for 500 years. Jean Panis took the reins from his father, Guy, in 1996 and has taken the estate to new heights, with the historic 1998 vintage marking the beginning of a golden era that continues to this day.

A blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 30% Cinsault, from the Minervois AOC, sourced from gravelly terraces and clay/limestone hillside slopes around the La Clamoux River. *Sustainably-grown, certified Veritas.

Yields of 2 2/3 tons/acre. The Cinsault vines average 55 years in age, the Grenache 35, and Syrah 20+ years.

100% tank-bled wine, fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. No malolactic conversion. Matured 2 months on the fine lees and bottled young.

Tasting Notes: Donjon’s classic, bone-dry rosé offers aromas of strawberry, cherry and plum, with a silky texture, and a long, piquant finish.
