Chateau les Trois Croix Fronsac 2012
From the home estate of Patrick Leon, former GM for the Baron Philippe Rothschild where he was responsible for overseeing technical winemaking facilities for Château Mouton Rothschild, d’Armailhac, Clerc Milon, le Petit Mouton, Aile d’Argent, Opus One in California, Almaviva in Chile, Domaine de Lambert & Baron d’Arques in the Languedoc, Mouton Cadet in Bordeaux as well as other wines in the BPHR portfolio including Escudo Rojo in Chile.
More recently, Patrick has partnered with Sasha Lichine of Chateau D'Esclan to produce world class rose wine in Provence.
The Leon family estate is located in Fronsac, a small, well-regard AOC just west of Pomerol on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. With the same iron-rich clay and limestone as its famous neighbors, the Leon family estate is located on one of the highest rises in the appellation, assuring excellent acidity and longevity in the wines.
A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, this 2012 is very well balanced and full of fruit. Nose of very fine jammy fruits, vanilla, light spices and grilled barrel, artfully balanced. Gorgeous palate, concentrated, powerful and long, on ripe berries. It is tasting great right now!
