Domaine de l’Espigouette Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu 2015
Plan de Dieu is one of the Villages of the Cotes du Rhone Villages AOC of the southern Rhône Valley, located on an elevated plain in the center of the region. This wine represents the typical grapes in the region, made from 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre from vines averaging 45 years of age. This wine is fermented in cement tank, followed by 12 to 18 months aging before bottling.
Domaine de l'Espigouette is now run by Bernard Latour, his wife and two sons. They carefully work the vineyard according to the climatic characteristics of vintage and different terroirs. The diversity of the soil allows for complexity to the different wines of this area, the hills provide rich, bold wines, while sandy, clay soils provide elegance, finesse and depth.
Beautiful deep red color with purple hues. The wine is clear and bright, with an open, expressive nose of black fruit and sweet spices, followed by blackberry jam, Hints of caramel and vanilla. Pair with red meat, pork and cheese.
