Domain M&S Ogier Côtes du Rhône "Le Temps est Venu" 2014
Stéphane Ogier has become one of Côte Rôtie’s most well-respected stars. He looks for concentration in the vineyards and freshness in the cellars. By de-stemming the majority of his crop, cold stabilization after the harvest, light extractions during vinification, and slow élévages, Stéphane is able to preserve a lively acidity in the grapes, infusing the roasted fruit character with minerality and elegant aromatics.
"Le Temps est Venu, ‘the time has come’ for an adventure farther south, with old-vine Grenache, limestone slopes, the Mistral wind, and the Mediterranean climate that are so different from my home. Only the Rhône River and my passion join these lands. The time has come to share my new story with you." -Stephane Ogier
A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah that was vinified and aged all in concrete -- and bottled early -- the 2014 Cotes du Rhone le Temps Est Venu comes from the Plan de Dieu and Visan AOCs. Medium-bodied, supple, elegant and downright sexy, with impressive notes of peppery herbs, raspberries, dried flowers and violets, it shows the forward nature of the vintage, yet has solid sweetness of fruit and plenty of charm. Drink it anytime over the coming 5-7 years.
