Domaine de l'Espigouette Vacqueyras 2013
Vacqueyras is a Cru of the southern Rhône Valley, located at the foot and on the slopes of the Massif des Dentelles. This wine represents the typical grapes in the region, made from 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre.
Domaine de l'Espigouette is now run by Bernard Latour, his wife and two sons. They carefully work the vineyard according to the climatic characteristics of vintage and different terroirs. The diversity of the soil allows for complexity to the different wines of this area, the hills provide rich, bold wines, while sandy, clay soils provide elegance, finesse and depth.
Dark red in color, deep in purple tints. Good clarity and good brightness. The nose is open with scrubland (garrigue) fragrances and something fresh, almost camphor. Then an explosion of black fruit with aeration. Nice balance, typical of the success of the Rhone Valley in this vintage. A perfect light oak complexity. The mouth is powerful, voluminous. Delicious sweetness from the outset.
