Domenico Fraccaroli Valpolicella 2015
The Valpolicella Blend is based on three indigenous red wine grape varieties grown in the Veneto region in Italy’s northeast. Corvina, Rondinella and molinara are the trio primarily involved in the blend, though it could easily be argued that the production methods are equally as important. The Valpolicella DOC also allow for up to 15% of other red wine varieties grown in the province of Verona, including Rossignola, Negara Trentina, Barbera and Sangiovese.
This wine is a blend of 70% Corvinone and Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 10% Molinara, grown on calcareous soil. After the de-stemming, alcoholic fermentation and maceration are carried out with careful monitoring of the temperature for 8 days. The refining process takes place in steel tanks for 6 months.
Valpolicella Grotta Del Ninfeo has a vivid ruby red colour with purplish tinges. On the nose the red fruit scent is immediately perceptible. On the palate it is fine and elegant, with a slightly acidulous and dry mouthfeel, characteristic of this vintage. It is a dynamic wine made for sharing.
This wine matches well with main courses, cold cuts, red and white meat served chilled.
